Below are several pieces of art that I particularly enjoyed. 1st Place "Selfie" Maxwell Weisen This pampered pet contrasted greatly with this impoverished male. Outside the gallery was another thunderous August night, we waited out the storm and enjoyed this picturesque exit from the Flinn Gallery. Thank you Greenwich Art Society
for sponsoring a delightful exhibit "Powers of Observation"! The exhibit is open at the Flinn Gallery located in the Greenwich Library until August 30, 2016 "It!" Woman Kyle
Numerous Stamford restaurants participated and showcased their cuisine.
Numerous tasty desserts were provided. Some of the contributors were Michele's Pies, DiMare Pastries and Sweet Pistachio Patiserrie. A Grand Summer Night to showcase Stamford's culinary and musical talent while raising proceeds for the wonderful

"The exhibit questions the cultural and symbolic meanings of the hand-made dichotomy. Typically the hand has been identified with exclusivity and individuality as well as with elitist and the cult of personalty. Similarly the machine has been understood to signify not only progress and democracy but also dehumanization and homogenization. In examining these values, the show's intention is to liberate the handmade and the machine-made from their usual confines of the haute couture and pret-a-porter, releasing them from the exigencies of the fashion system with the hands of fashion designers for whom they serve as the process of creative impulses." The Metropolitan Museum of Art Below is a sampling of the more than 100 examples of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear from the 1880's to 2015 displayed in this fantastic exhibit. Each item is paired with a description of the materials, information on what was machine made vs. hand sewn and insight about the piece from each designer. The show is an incredibly informative and fascinating look into the design process.
It closes, September 5th, 2016. A definite must see! "It!" Woman Kyle |
