Green Gold, Champagne Cocktails, Quartets , SculPture, ART & Hermaphrodites - Stamford Art Walk

had a blast at the

Stamford Artwalk

in Stamford, Connecticut.

As we walked to the first venue, I heard someone walking along the sidewalk mention there was
Green Gold
at J Hollander Goldsmith.  
We met up with  
Russ Hollander,
the owner and goldsmith, in his store and inquired about the "green gold".  
He explained that green gold is gold that does not have any copper mixed into it.
Gold naturally has a green hue.
Here is a picture of a green gold chain necklace and a weaved bracelet.

Russ has many stunning pieces displayed in the store and could create a unique gold piece designed just for you with your select blend of gold!

Russ also won the
best cocktail award of the evening serving champagne with strawberries
​in attractive flutes!

​Outside the Ferguson Library we enjoyed listening to this stringed quartet.

​I enjoyed Loft Artist Association's
​artist Sholeh Janati's
Sextet of Fish
at the Palace Theatre.  

I would love to hang them up at my sea house.  
As soon as I get a sea house!

At the Stamford Art Association we met artist  Nadia Martinez.  She is the artist in residence at the Museum of Art & Design (MAD)
in NYC.  
We enjoyed her colorful artistic expressions about written communication in our world today.

"Nadia Martinez works in a variety of mediums, with her work reflecting on daily encounters and experiences that are often difficult to express in words.  Martinez strives to make statements that are positive and uplifting and draws from her background in architecture to explore the interaction between humans and nature and the qualities that shape our faith and values today."

​I am amazed at how this male maintains this pose year after year at the
Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery.

Below is a statue from the recently visited
 "Pergamon"
exhibit at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art from 200ish BC.  
Despite the extraordinary mastery of sculpture,
sculptor's back then chose to include a sturdy platform. 

We finished up at the Franklin Street Works which featured moving art forms such as this video of a male/female figure. 

 Apparently, the hermaphrodite concept
has been subject to artistic interpretation for a while now
as demonstrated below in another "Pergamon" sculpture
from the Hellenistic Period 323 BC to AD.

​A very fun artistic evening!
