Despite a Nor'easter engulfing the area as the event started, they went with The-Show-Must-Go-On approach. It turned out to be an amazing evening and ended up raising more funds than ever before. The proceeds will assist Clasp's mission of creating and supporting family environments for people with autism and intellectual disabilities. Another fabulous sunset cruise with the Norwalk Seaport Association! On this trip we even got to see the Sturgeon Moon rising above Long Island Sound! See above pic. To Buy Tickets and check out trip options click here... The Sunset Cruise takes you by three lighthouses: Peck Ledge, Green Ledge (examples of spark plug lighthouses) and Sheffield Island Lighthouse (a Victorian stone lighthouse). We could see NYC off in the horizon! Other people enjoying boating on the sea! People fishing off of an island. Some of the islands have housing. A view of homes and boats along the shore. The sun setting. There were few clouds that night which meant a less colorful sky as it went over the western horizon. Many times the sunset is full of red, pink, orange, yellow and more. Heading back after a wonderful evening! Until next year stunning Sturgeon Moon!
The Norwalk Seaport Association Sunset Cruise is always an excellent way to enjoy a summer evening! We had a wonderful summer afternoon dining at the Sunset Grille in East Norwalk! Enjoy sunsets, sea views and a tasty meal! It is a seasonally opened restaurant, located along the mouth of the Norwalk Harbor as it enters Long Island Sound. I recently went with a friend for Sunday Brunch. We enjoyed a sunny day, under an umbrella, with a nice sea breeze on the outside patio. I ordered the Sunset Summer salad with scallops (yummy) and my friend the Avocado Toast. The scallops were perfectly cooked. A delicious, low carb dish that included greens, red onion, tomatoes, red peppers, green beans and goat cheese. My friend enjoyed the avocado toast accompanied with fried eggs, potatoes and fresh fruit. They offered delightful solo acoustic live music during our Sunday brunch and later in the evening offered another band for dinner dining by the sea! You can eat inside too and grab seats at either the inside or outside bar. A favorite of many for summer fun and yum!

Take a day trip to NYC and enjoy these two treasures located in one building on Columbus Circle! "It!" Woman Kyle Fairfield County "It!" had a fabulous time at Pearl at Longshore in Westport Thursday night enjoying great eats, drinks and jazz!! We saw STEVE SANDBERG AND CO. Three time Emmy-nominated composer/pianist Steve Sandberg played original music that masterfully blended classical, world music and jazz with the excitement of virtuosic improvisation. For this show, Steve reunited with his old friend, the great bassist Jeff Fuller, as well as fiery drummer Matt Moadel and the Jazz rabbi himself. It was a great night! Here is our appreciative crowd! Also, on view in the Gallery @ Pearl is an exhibit featuring artist Jennifer Williams. An Australian born contemporary oil painter. Her recent cityscape series captures the essence of gesture, line, and form as she communicates the majesty of our urban landscape as she perceives them, full of movement and light. The viewer is invited to see an intimate view of the city, free from traffic and people, viewed through foliage in Central Park or from the gardens of Paris. When not painting Jennifer owns and operates a movement therapy practice at Mission Survivor Center in Southport CT. Her study of anatomy and movement are apparent in her paintings where one can feel the rhythm and structure of her compositions as she builds depth layer by layer. She holds a BA in Business, has studied fine arts at Parsons School of Design in New York and continues to paint at Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan. She is currently showing in Paris and Connecticut and has works on permanent exhibit at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. She is a member of The Westport Artists Collective, SPAG and an exhibiting member at The Rowayton Arts Center. Her work is held in private collections in the US, Europe, Australia, and the Caribbean. An enjoyable collection of Cityscapes you should see! Spring, Summer and Fall are fantastic on the Patio at Pearl. Views are wonderful at Pearl and Sunday Brunch is scrumptious!!

The excellent film festival is founded and run by women including Colleen deVeer Founder and Director of Programming, Wendy Stapleton Founder and Chairman of the Board and Ginger Stickel the Executive Director. The mission of the Greenwich International Film Festival is to provide filmmakers with an effective platform to showcase their work with the goal of finding financing opportunities for future projects. Additionally, GIFF harnesses the power of film to serve the greater good by highlighting important issues that relate to basic human rights, education, the environment and health care. The Changemaker Gala honored Eva Longoria and efforts through her foundation to help assist Latina's to thrive and Bobby Walker Jr. of the Boys and Girls Club in Greenwich, CT. Kathy Lee Gifford emceed the event. One of the featured films "Auggie" starring Richard Kind about augmented reality will get you thinking about the future. The filmmakers story is inspiring about taking a film from start to finish when you are not a well known entity. One of the filmmakers Marc Underhill is a Fairfield native and the movie was filmed in Fairfield, CT. https://www.fairfieldcountyctit.com/blog/auggie The Opening Night Party allowed us a wonderful opportunity to meet the filmmakers and actors of many of the films represented in the festival. The Epic Anniversary Party with Kesha was exciting and not to be missed! Here are the winners: *Best Narrative Film: “Sister Aimee,” directed by Samantha Buck and Marie Schlingmann: It is loosely based on the life of Aimee Semple McPherson, a famous evangelist during the 1920s and 30s who ran away from her success with her lover in Mexico. *Best Documentary: “Cold Case Hammarskjöld,” which is about the mysterious death of former U.N. Secretary General Dag Hammarskjöld in a 1961 plane crash. The film explores the unsolved mystery and discusses potentially larger conspiracies. *Best Narrative Short Film: “The Animal” by Sebastian Kass about a teenage girl who gets a call from child protection services about how something might be wrong in her family. *Honorable Mention Short Film: “The Blues Crab” in the kids shorts category. The film by Ari Rubenstein is about an old, gnarled crab telling his story of loss and sorrow to younger crabs. *Best Documentary Short: The ESPN documentary “Mack Wrestles” from Erin Sanger and Taylor Hess about a transgender athlete named Mack Briggs who is trying to wrestle in Texas. *Best Short Film about Connecticut: “120 Years,” by Matt Nadel and Lukas Cox, about New Haven resident Scott Lewis, who was sentenced to life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and the impact of that wrongful conviction. *Social Impact Award: “Afterward,” a documentary about Ofra Bloch, a Jewish psychotherapist specializing in trauma. The film follows Block, who is disturbed by the rise of fascism and anti-Semitism, and travels to Germany, Israel and Palestine to confront her own feelings about the people there.
What inspired you to write the movie Auggie? Initially, the idea came from being single in Los Angeles and wishing that I could have an "on-demand" companion - someone who was there providing comfort when I wanted them to be, and who wouldn't be there where I wanted space or didn't want to have to provide comfort to them. I'm a big fan of technology and had read about Silicon Valley companies such as Facebook, Apple, and Snapchat developing augmented reality smart glasses. Google had already given it a shot with Google Glass, so I thought it would be interesting to explore how this technology might be able to provide companionship. My writing partner Matt Kane (who also directed Auggie) thought of the idea to make the lead character married and older, adding a layer of "infidelity" with the device and showing how the vulnerability of a significant life change might make one especially susceptible to the technology. How did you get the film from concept to completion? Getting this film made required the help of our entire community. We raised production funds on Seed&Spark as part of the Hometown Heroes Crowdfunding Rally, which required our networks in Connecticut, Los Angeles and the UK to come together and make the project a reality. We were overwhelmed with the support, which continued when filming. Neighbors opened up their homes to LA-based crew members and Fairfield small businesses opened their doors for donated film locations (The Pantry, Super Duper Weenie and Las Vetas Lounge to name a few). On a film this small, every crew member mattered. Our incredibly talented crew was assembled from friendships and connections we've made over the several years we've been in LA and their dedication was a huge reason the film is not only completed, but something we're proud of. Why did you choose to film in your hometown of Fairfield? Firstly, there's something really special about filming outside of Los Angeles. It lends incredible production value to have the world of this film set in a gray, cold February in CT. On top of that, when making a film at our budget level, it's incredibly important to rely on support wherever you can get it. The amount of in-kind donations we received make the production value of the film significantly higher than what it actually cost. How were you able to recruit the quality of actors such as Richard Kind to be in Auggie? Great question! One of our friends in Los Angeles, Alice Merlin, is a casting director. She came on board and immediately increased the legitimacy of the project. She shared the script with the bigger agencies and as the script was read and passed around, Richard's manager liked it and recommended we consider making an offer to him. Thankfully, he also liked the script and accepted the role, which then increased our value for other great actors to sign on, such as Susan Blackwell. AUGGIE is a thought provoking excellent movie! Be sure to see it at the Greenwich International Film Festival!! May 29 - June 2 "It!" Woman Kyle

An Exhibition of 24 images and stories from each artist, about real and imagined people from life’s shadow's Miggs Burroughs will present a series of 24 mugshots with their rap sheets, dating back to the early 1900s which, using his signature lenticular technique, will change, as the viewer walks by, into the innocent baby photo of each thug. What choices lead these characters down such dismal paths? Ann Chernow's work is based on impressions related to Film Noir, the American movie genre of the 1940s. For this exhibition of "Fictitious Icons" Chernow has chosen to digitally abstract the heads of Noir stars not readily identfiable: their foibles, written and displayed in stories beneath the digital images. Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me I once was lost, but now am found T'was blind but now I see.
