The Most Perfect Prosecco w/ The Ferrari ClUb on the Greenwich Harbor! Altaneve At L'Escale - Greenwich

Fairfield County "It"  recently went to

​L'Escale restaurant
in Greenwich, Connecticut,
to attend a delightful five - course luncheon featuring wines from Altaneve,
hosted by its owner David Noto.

In my opinion, Altaneve is the most refined and delicious Prosecco made in the world.  

David after working in the financial industry in NYC and Italy decided to do a 180 regarding his career path and set off to create the perfect prosecco!  He comes from a wine-making heritage, his family has been doing it for generations.

The vineyards are in Valdobbiadene, Italy, the ultimate location to grow "Glera" the grape used for Prosecco.   The wine is categorized Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. which is the highest Italian wine classification.        

A few stand out features of this memorable Prosecco are its dry texture, minerality and profuse tiny bubbles.......   

From the picture you can see that real men drink refined Prosecco!

L'Escale created a delicious five-course luncheon of:

* Tuna Tartar on cucumber cups
* Smoked Salmon on blinis 
* Heirloom tomato, cucumber,                watermelon, pickeled watermelon 
* Ocean Trout, chanterelle, bulgar           wheat, lentils, spinach 
* Goat Cheese Gnocchi, lamb                   Bolognese 
* Creme Brulee, raspberries,                     chocolate

​Notable guests at the event were Gabriela from Val's Putnam Wines of Greenwich, Lana & Pietro Polini, owners of Terra Sole restaurant in Ridgefield, Connecticut, and several members of the Ferrari Club, one of which is David himself!

I asked David what is the best glass for a sparkling wine?  A flute or some other type of glassware?  

He responded by pouring the Altaneve - Valdobbiandene Prosecco Superiore DOCG in a flute and also in a wine glass as pictured here. It was a fabulous demonstration that drinking sparkling wine from a wine glass is a much richer experience than when drunk from a flute.  Interesting! Profoundly more aromatic and flavorful.   

David said flutes are wonderful for watching bubbles rise,
​but if you want exposure to all that sparkling wine has to offer, serve it in a traditional wine glass instead of a stately flute.
